New Online Course: Re-Story Your Life With Tarot

This interactive, online course will introduce mythological and archetypal interpretations of the symbols on tarot cards, how to do specific spreads, the importance of the Ace cards in determining time references and numerology.

During the course I will emphasize how the tarot symbols relate to your personal mythology through active imagination, amplification and journaling.

I will specifically use the Voyager tarot deck and I highly recommend it for this course. However, if you have another traditional tarot deck you'd like to use, that's fine. The popular Doreen Virtue tarot card decks are wonderful and I use them all the time, but they are not appropriate for this course.

Course Fee: $25. I'm offering the course at 50% off for the month of September. PayPal and personal checks are accepted. Please try to send payment before our first meeting.

This course meets 3 times
•	Tuesday, September 15, 2009 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM PDT

Double-Crossed by the Bishop

Double-Crossed by the Bishop

On March 4th 2009, Acharya S (D.M. Murdock) was a guest on "The Sacred Division" radio show, hosted by Bishop James Long. She was asked by them to be on the show to discuss her new book titled "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" and they told her that they had 1.2 million listeners. She wasn't feeling well but she did the show anyway.

However, it soon became clear that Bishop Long had another agenda. Here are a couple excerpts spliced together in a short youtube video. One is towards the beginning of the show around 10 minutes into the show & the other starting at 5:15 on the youtube version is from around 1 hour into the full version show - where the Bishop gets pissed-off and disrespectfully hangs up on the guest and continues to insult her after he hangs up on her. Later, he incites hatred and violence against the makers of Zeitgeist and all those who had any part in it.

You can listen to the full version by clicking on the link in the information box on the right.

The Mythicist Position:

I have been searching for a well thoughout mythicist position to counter the theist, atheist and Euhemerus or Evemerist positions and was surprised that I was unable to find a good one anywhere. One may find these terms in dictionaries and encyclopedias but no mention of a well thoughtout mythicist position. I thought that was very odd - so I sent D.M. Murdock an e-mail and asked her about it and she organized what I consider the perfect mythicist position that works for me. It will be published in her latest book "Christ in Egypt." It takes us beyond the neverending theist/atheist debate to create a far more interesting position to take. Lets see what you think.

For those who don't know, here's some brief info about Euhemerus.

"Euhemerus was a Greek philosopher who lived about 330-260 BC who is known mainly for his radical interpretations of the Greek myths, which he felt were part of a long historical tradition by which the Gods were originally men, known for some great historical feat or some important social and cultural advancement and later raised to god-hood. This view was current in Greek intellectual circles and was popular in the early Christian period as well, probably as a way of defusing the idea of pagan religion."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euhemerus

http://www.reference.com/browse/Euhemerism

This thesis developed by Euhemerus may be called "euhemerism," "evemerism" or the "evemerist position," defined as follows:

"Evemerism represents the perspective that many of the gods and goddesses of antiquity had been real people, such as kings, queens and other heroes and legendary figures, to whose biographies were later added extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes."

So, the info above may easily be found. However, you won't find any valuable information on a well thoughout mythicist position at all - I find this utterly WEIRD! I have to wonder if it's due to censorship or suppression.

The Mythicist Position:

"Mythicism represents the perspective that many gods, goddesses and other heroes and legendary figures said to possess extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes are not "real people" but are in fact mythological characters. Along with this view comes the recognition that many of these figures personify or symbolize natural phenomena, such as the sun, moon, stars, planets, constellations, etc., constituting what is called "astrotheology." As a major example of the mythicist position, various biblical characters such as Adam and Eve, Satan, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King David, Solomon & Jesus Christ, among other figures, in reality represent mythological characters along the same lines as the Egyptian, Sumerian, Phoenician, Indian, Greek, Roman and other godmen, who are all presently accepted as myths, rather than historical figures."

- From "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" by D. M. Murdock
http://stellarhousepublishing.com/christ-in-egypt-table-of-contents.html

Now, I really like this mythicist position. I'm going to submit it as an entry into dictionaries and encyclopedias.

this is but another word for a story, a legend, a tall tail thats been passed down through time. (or is it?)
did these writings of victory and betrail, shame and glory actually take place?
do you believe in fairies? are there angels? and if so, who is your hero, and who's your devil?
time hasnt changed much, only the days....
what is your myth?

New Tribe: Personality Theatre

With the moderator's permission I'd like to introduce a new tribe, entitled Personality Theatre.

Description:

"We constantly produce a display, a theatrical scene. For each situation we create the appropriate backdrop and the appropriate lighting. We also have the appropriate actors, mainly ourselves, who appear on the stage. We carry on this kind of play, this theatrical game, so to speak, to feel out the total effect our stage set is having."
-Chogyam Trungpa

A place for the discussion of illusion, delusion, spiritual materialism, creation of personality, destruction and transformation of personality, magic, magick, funhouses, tricksters, labyrinths and carnivals of all sorts...mostly in relation to the growth and evolution of our inner and outer selves.

Essentially, a place to wonder about the masquerade of daily living...for the play we put on for ourselves and others.
(Wasn't that a wonderfully theatrical summation?)
Two Wings

Forgive me,
I am searching,
Forgive my desperation
It is the pain of separation

This is the song of my life story
The longing of sing is the mystery

Any one who is been in pain
Look for people to hear his rhyme
Each dark cloud is a hidden blossom
If only there is a willing earth to let its rain

Thee art thunder,
Says the master,
Thee shall turn
Shout the caster

All signs and symbols hide two wings
The Two made The One
So became beauty the beings

The One fulfilling my mind,
The Two embracing my heart,
The doubt is without,
within is all sight

I see the light
and I hear the sigh
forgot the rhythm
but know the hymn
don’t know the way
but reckon,
this side

Past is present
And present is the past
My story is a history
The tale went so fast

Pain and doubts and fears
Tears and tenderness and treasures
All will leave
What remain are the wings
and the wishes

On Babalon....

A goddess in Thelemic Mysticism.. .could be described as a fertility goddess, or as a sexual power symbol for the femine aspect of the divine. Possible origins outside of crowley include the city of Babylon itself or one of the chief religious figures of the goddess of Ishtar. Babalon is also similiar to the Egyptian goddess Isis.

Any further information into the actual "nature" of Babalon would be greatly appreciated.

krishna and jesus

'I am the beginning, the middle, and the end' (BG 10:20 vs. Rev. 1:8 ).
His advent was heralded by a pious old man named Asita, who could die happy knowing of his arrival, a story paralleling that of Simeon in Luke 2:25 .
Krishna's mission was to give directions to 'the kingdom of God' (BG 2:72), and he warned of 'stumbling blocks' along the way (BG 3:34; 1 Cor. 1:23 ; Rev. 2:14).
The essential thrust of Krishna's sayings, uttered to a beloved disciple, sometimes seems to coincide with Jesus or the Bible. Compare: 'those who are wise lament neither for the living nor the dead' (BG 2:11) with the sense of Jesus' advice to 'let the dead bury their own dead' (Matt. 8:22 ).
Krishna's saying, 'I envy no man, nor am I partial to anyone; I am equal to all' (BG 9:29) is a lot like the idea that God is no respecter of persons (Rom. 2:11 ; see also Matt. 6:45 ).
And 'one who is equal to friends and enemies... is very dear to me' (BG 12:18) is reminiscent of 'love your enemies' (Matt. 6:44 ).
Krishna also said that 'by human calculation, a thousand ages taken together is the duration of Brahma's one day' (BG 8:17), which is very similar to 2 Peter 3:8."

****

Many early Christian theologians noted the extreme similarity between Christianity and Pagan religions such as Hinduism, Mithraism, etc. Eusebius of Caesarea (circa 283-371 CE) wrote: "The religion of Jesus Christ is neither new nor strange." 1
St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 CE) wrote: "This, in our day, is the Christian religion, not as having been unknown in former times, but as having recently received that name." 2

Some early Christian leaders attributed the similarities between Christianity and earlier religions to a trick of Satan. They felt that Satan had created many crucified saviors, born of virgins, before Jesus in order to discredit Christianity's uniqueness. Others attribute the similarities to coincidence.

Conservative Christians generally believe in the inerrancy of the Bible. Thus, the Gospel of John is absolutely accurate when it presents Jesus Christ as a supernatural being, the Son of God, who was present at the creation of the universe, is the savior of humanity, and who came to earth so that believers "might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10 KJV). Any similarity to legends about Krishna are either forgeries, or coincidences. There was no incorporation into the Christian Gospels of Pagan legends about the life of Krishna. The points of similarities must have resulted from other influences. There is no Krishna-Christ linkage; the topic is ridiculous; it is not even worth investigating. It is blasphemy to suggest such a connnection.
Some skeptics have suggested that Yeshua of Nazareth (a.k.a. Jesus Christ by most Christians) and Krishna, the second person of the Hindu trinity, are the same person. It is rather obvious that that they are not. Jesus appears to have been born in Palestine during the last decade BCE, whereas Krishna is dated many millennia earlier, in India.
Some liberal religious historians have raised the possibility that stories of Jesus' birth, ministry, execution, and resurrection were copied, at least in part, from Krishna's life.
Many liberal Christians feel that a Hindu source for many of the events in Jesus' life is a topic is worth studying. Many Pagan religious belief systems, including Hinduism, permeated the Mediterranean region in the 1st century CE. There were various male heroes within Egyptian, Greek, Indian, Roman and other Pagan pantheons of Gods, whose role was to be saviors to humanity -- much like Jesus. In order to compete with those religions, Christianity would have had to describe Jesus in terms that matched or surpassed the Pagan legends. Otherwise, it would not have survived. The authors of the gospels may well have picked up themes from other sources and added them to their writings in order to make Christianity more credible to a Pagan world. By isolating and removing such foreign material, we might be able to get a clearer picture of what Jesus taught and how he lived.
